We hope you're all set for a great day as things start to pick up here in Tulsa! From kicking off showmanship this morning all the way to our sweet treats tonight, we'll stay busy all day.

Whether you attend today's Genomics & PGS Educational Clinic or compete in the Team Sales Competition, take every opportunity to learn and try new things!

Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

Remember that time in school when you had an assignment that required you to present in front of the entire class? Did you love doing it? Probably not, I know I didn’t. But we made it through, and it probably even went pretty smoothly.  I bet it also made the time after that a lot less nerve-racking.

You see, if we never step out of our comfort zone, forced or not, we will never know what that feeling is like. If we do it repeatedly, it just keeps getting easier. There is only improvement with practice. Practicing stepping out of our comfort zone by being involved in contests, groups, clubs, and a lot more only helps our own future. Notice the trend? There is no way for us to figure out our true passions without trying new things, even things we might be unsure of. We must learn to get out of our comfort zones to be able to get involved. Take this week of Junior Nationals to meet new people, try new contests, and step outside of your comfort zone!

Things to Do in Tulsa

Ever since I started school at Oklahoma State University, I’ve always found Tulsa to be a fun and exciting place to go for a day away from school. There is so much culture, many areas to explore, and a large variety of places for a good meal! Below I have a few places to retreat to if you’re in need of getting out of the barn and beating the heat!

The Gathering Place: This large five-acre playground is for all ages! If you’re looking to blow off some steam at Tulsa’s Riverfront Park, The Gathering Place is a must on your to-do list this week!

Utica Square: Utica Square is home of numerous different clothing stores, salons, yoga, Flemings Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Jazz into the Night and so much more!

Blue Dome District Area: Located in downtown Tulsa, the Blue Dome District Area is home to some of Tulsa’s best eateries.

Philbrook Museum: Philbrook Museum of Art is set in the historic home of Waite and Genevieve Phillips with expansive formal gardens.
