Adapted from an article by Angus Communications. |
You may have seen some discussion online about the Angus Foundation receiving a grant from the Bezos Earth Fund. To clear up a few points, we wanted to provide more information on this beef-industry-led research and call your attention to our post-board meeting podcast later this week.
On April 15, the American Angus Association released information on this research project. The article can be found here.

Failure to Extend Tax Cuts Could Cost Farmers Billions
|
Adapted from a release by the American Farm Bureau Federation. |
If Congress fails to extend current tax provisions, America’s farmers and ranchers will be forced to pay $9 billion more in federal taxes every year. Tax relief enacted by the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) is set to expire at the end of this year, which would lead to tax increases for almost two-thirds of families, including those in rural America. In the latest Market Intel, American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) economists analyzed the effects of reverting to the previous tax code.
“The size of a federal tax bill can make or break farm profitability, particularly for small farms on the brink of breaking even,” the Market Intel states. “Each dollar that comes out of a farm family’s bank account to pay taxes is one less they can spend on improvements to their homes and farms, one less to hire an additional worker, one less to spend at other businesses in their community and one less they can put toward growing food, fiber and fuel.”

The strategy supports President Trump’s Executive Order: Immediate Expansion of Timber Production by streamlining burdensome regulations, leveraging emergency authorities and expediting project approvals — ensuring faster access to critical timber resources. Increasing the use of long-term contracts to carry out these projects, the strategy envisions a more stable supply of wood products, healthier forests, and stronger rural economies.
